The 1st Asset Management Ecosystem (AME) conference was an enormous success that brought together many asset decision makers to discuss and debate the strategy of asset management. It is without question that the first annual AME conference touched a nerve with many in the AM community. And, a 2nd Annual AME will be held on 29 April – 2 May 2018 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, USA.

Summary: One of the biggest challenges in asset management is the clarification and delivery of long-term goals while also delivering short term results. This paper explains how a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) joins these up and can be used to agree the best way to deliver value over the whole asset asset life cycle. It also explains how technical folk can convince financial folk abut what needs to be done, when and why – on language that financial folk can understand.

John Woodhouse will also deliver a workshop on 2 May 2018 on ‘Dollars and sense: Sorting out what is really worth doing, why and when – and convincing everybody that this is the right plan’.

Summary: A deep dive, highly interactive session into the development of a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and the demonstration of value-for-mney in asset management. This workshop explores proven methods for aligning different agendas and for putting dollars on the table, to show the business case for plans, resources and activities. For example, the workshop will demonstrate, in live case studies, the latest developments in indentifying and justifying the optimal time to replace aging assets (or any life extension options). Workshop participants will receive a free copy of the recently published best practices guide from the Institute of Asset Management.
