TWPL are experts in asset management providing consulting and support, education and training and decision support strategies worldwide. It was formed in 1995 by a team of former senior managers of blue chip organisations including Shell, UK Atomic Energy Authority, the Royal Air Force, Philips and Kvaerner Engineering. TWPL’s goal is to provide pragmatic advice, experience and support to organisations that wish to develop a joined-up, optimized and continual improvement approach to the management of their assets.
TWPL provides education and consulting services to many industry sectors in over 25 countries. This includes providing organisational reviews, roadmapping, facilitated improvement programmes and MSc degree programmes. TWPL has been involved in project management of the DTi/European MACRO project, chairing the production of the BSi/IAM PAS 55 standard for asset management as well as the development of the ISO 55000 family of standards and the first IAM Competences Framework.
TWPL’s mission is to be the provider of choice for businesses who manage industrial and infrastructure assets, and who wish to improve their performance by the application of good asset management practices. And we wish to be recognized as a leader in the development of international asset management thinking, good practices and decision support tools.
TWPL is uniquely committed to working with organisations across different industry sectors – we have found that cross-pollination of ideas and experiences between industries is often more valuable than the repeated benchmarking and specialities that are found within groups of similar organisations. This gives TWPL a special perspective – we can select and combine leading edge ideas and practical experiences from a wide range of sources and innovative thinking (see client testimonials).
TWPL works in the following industries
- Electricity transmission and distribution
- Oil and gas exploration and production
- Petrochemical and process industries
- Power generation
- Road and rail transport networks
- Water and wastewater utilities
Unique style of working
TWPL provides a unique ‘mix-and-match’ approach to asset management consulting, drawing on a wide range of best practices, and extensive first-hand experience of adapting them to local cultures and environments. We would customise an organisation-specific roadmap for its real ’embedding’.
Unique concentration of expertise
TWPL stands out as a source of pragmatic advice, training and support thanks to deep understanding of the total picture of asset management – each consultant has at least 20 years’ front line operational and management experience.
Our style of working is collaborative and flexible to ensure that programmes of improvements are correctly focused, sensitive to local needs and priorities, and realistically deliverable for long term effectiveness. We pride ourselves on our ability to coach, mentor and transfer our experience to build local competency and confidence.
TWPL operates on a global basis with its head office based near Newbury, Berkshire, UK. We have two regional offices – in Caracas, Venezuela covering Latin America, and in the Virginia, USA covering North America, Canada and the Caribbean. We also have a network of associates and regional support offices around the world, so wherever you are based, we can provide personal support and advice. Some of our clients have hundreds of sites around the world – so we are very familiar with the cultural diversities, change management and long-distance communication challenges involved in supporting multi-national organisations.
